Since 2002, the 24 Hour Museum has undertaken an annual survey of web statistics for UK cultural websites.

The surveys make very interesting reading and have generated a lot of interest from the sector. Very little information of this type is being collected and shared and many people have requested from us details about how to measure the success of their websites and online resources.

The performance indicators used for the survey were drawn from the NOF guidelines plus one extra one we have added.

The tables below are the results of the 2004 survey and relate to a period of six months from January 1 2004 to June 30 2004.

With each of the five performance indicators used, the figures have been compared with the results for the same period of the preceding year (1st January 2003 to the 30 June 2003).

Where no results were available, nothing is shown.

Where figures are available from the same institution for the same period we have then shown the percentage change between 2003 and 2004.
