LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - SAVE THE ROTHERWAS RIBBON

Dear 24 Hour Museum

Thank you for your article (published July 10) on the above. There is now a huge effort to save this monument locally and globally. There is a consensus around the world (but not on the council payroll) that burying this find under a road for heavy lorries to an industrial estate is not the correct procedure.

An online petition to the Prime Minister has gained over 200 signatures in 24 hours and there is now a dedicated website - www.rotherwasribbon.com - on which there are a number of press releases to balance the view of the council with those of most local people (a poll on the local newspaper website has shown over 95% wanting to cancel the road).

Many thanks again

Rob Hattersley
