The Life of Charlotte Bronte - Exhibition at the Bronte Parsonage Museum

Description
This exhibition celebrates the first ever biography of Charlotte Brontë, written by the novelist Elizabeth Gaskell and first published in 1857. In it Mrs Gaskell created an image of Charlotte that has endured for 150 years. Visitors can find out about the people, places and ideas in the book, the scandal it created and the reason Mrs Gaskell called it “that unlucky book” – and vowed never to write another biography.
