To coincide with the release of Aardman & Dreamworks' hugely anticipated Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-rabbit, Explore-At-Bristol is hosting a new interactive exhibition called Animated Adventures until February 28 2006.

This exciting show offers a rare glimpse into the fascinating process of film animation and exclusively features real life sets and models that were used in the new film.

“Having sets from Aardman Animations’ latest film is … an incredible privilege,” said At-Bristol’s Exhibitions Director, Valerie Collins, “offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a behind the scenes insight into their Oscar winning filmmaking.”

Shows a still of animated characters Wallace and Gromit beside a car with a vast old house in the background. In the foreground are five rabbits.

The show is an interesting mix of hands-on exhibits and multi-media pods which reveals how the world’s top animators created their on-screen characters.

It also offers visitors top tips on all things animated from the art of cel painting to the ins and outs of CGI technology.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is an incredible set from the film’s lavish showdown at the Giant Vegetable Competition, which takes place at a magical fairground awash with vibrantly coloured tents and eye-catching rides.

Also on display are Wallace and Gromit’s bunny-laden basement and a number of Wallace’s madcap inventions.

The latest Wallace and Gromit adventure took a painstaking four years and a Land Rover’s weight in plasticine to create - an amazing endeavour that is rightly celebrated by this unique exhibition.

Animated Adventures has been funded by the Millennium Commission and designed by a consortium of three museums including At-Bristol and W5, the Interactive Discovery Centre.

A touring exhibition, the show heads off to the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham on March 6 2006.
