By Clare Moloney 23/05/2008

Clare Moloney, Museums and Galleries Month 2008 Art Co-ordinator, takes us through her top art picks still going on or yet to come.

Now until mid June:

OGS Crawford, John Hansard Gallery, Southampton

Exhibition of the photographs of OGS Crawford - widely recognised as the founder of aerial photography as a form of archaeology. Highlights include aerial surveillance photographs of enemy trenches in the first world war and anti-Nazi graffiti in Berlin between the two world wars.

Role Control at Arnolfini, Bristol

Saskia Holmkvist's exhibition presents a major new video installation exploring notions of credibility, social strategy and how we all engage in role play.

Meanwhile, a solo show from Torsten Lauschmann is characterised by a sense of playful experimentation, including projections of found footage or animation onto sculptural objects or elaborate geometric wall drawings to produce an illusion of three dimensionality.

There will be a tour of both exhibitions on Saturday 24 May.

The MGM ArtBus

Wednesday May 28, Birmingham: free MGM ArtBus travelling between Ikon, Barber Institute of Fine Arts and RBSA Gallery. See the bus timetable on the RBSA website.

MGM for kids:

Serpentine Gallery, Saturday May 24

Inspired by portrait painting and the vibrant colours in the Maria Lassnig exhibition, families can work with artists to create bright, strange self portraits using printing techniques and mixed media.

South Shields Museum Wednesday-Thursday, May 28 and 29

Using the museum's eclectic collection of Victorian seaside objects as inspiration, artist Sharon Wilson invites you to make your own Victorian posters, postcards and holiday souvenirs.

Spacex Gallery, Exeter Wednesday May 28

Build a Brilliant Birdbox Workshop - inspired by Sculptures for the Unseen exhibition of sculptures and film by Axel Antas, Spacex invites you along to create your own birdbox/house for birds. Led by Architect Robert Brown and Designer Toshiko Terazona.

The Ropewalk, Lincolnshire

Artist Jonathan Korejko will lead a number of workshops entitled Paper from Old Rope. The workshops, directly referencing the history of building as a rope factory, will enable children to learn how to create handmade paper from recycled rope, string and other plant fibres. Contact the Ropewalk for dates.
