The exhibtion has been put together from the collection of Sean Szmalc and Margot Corson. Sean’s fascination began when he was five years old after viewing the film ‘A Night to Remember’. Sean and Margot have collected artefacts for the past 20 years.
Among the many fascinating items featured are beautiful china dinner plates that served the first meals onboard the ill-fated ship and a Steiff bear that belonged to William Moyes, senior sixth engineer, as a good luck charm.
There is also the chance to view a poignant pocket watch that stopped as it entered the freezing water at 2.28am, 96 years ago as the Titanic sank to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.
Items like a silver sugar dish from the Titanic’s first class dinning room reveal the opulence of the great White Star liner whilst a magnificent solid silver cup, which was presented to Titanic’s Captain, Edward John Smith, reveals the long and distinguished career of the captain during 25 years faithful service to the White Star Line.
