Description
London Canal Museum tells the story of London's canals, their people, cargoes, and the horses which pulled their boats. In a waterside building that was once a warehouse for imported ice, we also tell the story of the ice trade and a uniquely preserved huge commercial ice well can be viewed. Our Horse Power exhibition is about London's working horses - on the streets and the canals. Listen to oral history including the last horse driver!

We are located beside the urban beauty spot of Battlebridge Basin. You can download a free audio tour from our website to enhance your visit - see our podcast page. We are one of England's most accessible museums for disabled visitors.
Collections description
Centrepiece is the narrowboat Coronis with a reconstructed cabin into which visitors can step, listening to the sound of a family having their meal and discussing their lives. Our collection includes "roses and castles" canal art and other decorative art, lifting, handling and weighing equipment for cargo, horse care equipment, and the working Bantam IV tug which is moored outside.
