Description
Find out about the historic town of Market Harborough and its surrounding area. For many centuries Market Harborough has been a market town, a social centre for the surrounding countryside a hunting centre, and a stagecoach post. The district's history is celebrated with displays including important collections of toys, the Symington Collection of Corsetry, a reconstruction of a local bootmaker's workshop and a programme of regularly changing exhibitions. The museum itself is located on the second floor of the council offices. The entrance to the museum is through the Fox Yard car park at the back of the council offices. A lift is available for visitors with mobility difficulties, accessible through the front entrance to the council offices on Adam and Eve Street. At weekends please ring ahead to make arrangements for access to the lift. The central position of the museum means that there are plenty of places nearby to eat and drink. There is a shop selling publications, souvenirs and gifts relating to Harborough and its history. There are toilet facilities in the museum.
