Description
Imagine stepping back in time to a Victorian Manchester, not the city of commerce and corporate splendour but a hidden city of gas lamps and narrow alleys, of slums and unruly alehouses.
Now imagine a busy police station in the heart of the city from where police officers arrested criminals and upheld the law.
Housed in this once busy Victorian police station, the museum was opened in 1981. It has featured in numerous tv and radio programmes and is popular with researchers and group visits. Open every Tuesday, the museum is accessible other weekdays by appointment. The building has access ramps, a lift to all floors and toilets on each floor. There is also a small retail/ information point.
