Description
The only public museum devoted to this country's best known and most versatile desinger. William Morris, designer, craftsman, writer, socialist and conservationist, was born in Walthamstow on 24th March 1834. The Gallery is housed in the eighteenth century Water house, Morris's family home.

The internationally important collections illustrate his life, achievements and influence, with displays of woven and printed fabrics, rugs, carpets, wallpapers, furniture, painted tiles, stained glass and books. Morris's desings are shown alongside those of Edward Burne-Jones, Philip Webb, Rossetti, Ford Madox Brown, Kate and Lucy Faulkner and many others.

The applied art collection is complemented by the Brangwyn Gift of paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture by the Pre-Raphaelites, as well as works by Sir Frank Brangwyn RA himself.
