Description
The Handel House Museum was home to celebrated composer George Frideric Handel from 1723 to his death in 1759. The New York Times called its Georgian interiors “a spur to the imagination” and the Times declared that the recitals in Handel’s rehearsal room are “a profoundly moving experience”. Handel composed his best-loved works in the house including Messiah, Fireworks Music and Zadok the Priest. Now it is brought back to life with regular live music, study events and family activities.
23 Brook Street, now part of the museum, was home to rock legend Jimi Hendrix from 1968 - 69. A blue plaque and a handful of photographs commemorate his time there.
