Description
Herefordshire life and history is celebrated in this county museum. Located on the first floor of this purpose built gothic building, it has served the people of Herefordshire since 1874. The art gallery is home to changing exhibitions and hosts seven or eight exhibitions a year.
Collections description
The collections are relevant to life in Herefordshire and include nationally important costume and textiles as well as an important collection of fine and decorative art. Although display space is limited there is access to the collections through the Museum Store and Resource Centre at Friar Street.

Key artists and exhibits
The museum holds the Brian Hatton collection in trust and rotates the display of his fine paintings, sketches and watercolours. There are usually 12 or so examples on show at any one time. ; The costumes and textiles rival and complement the collections from Snows Hill, now housed at Berrington Hall (National Trust) and the collection of smocks is internationally important.
