Description
Hampton Court Palace was home to some of England's most famous kings and queens from Henry VIII (1509-47), its first royal resident, to George II (1727-60), its last. From 1760 the palace became a 'grace-and-favour' residence for those who had given great service to the Crown or country - or, more often than not, their dependants.
The gardens are an attraction in their own right, from the ordered Privy Garden of William III to the Great Vine, which still produces fruit, and the Hampton Court Palace Maze.

Collections description
With 500 years worth of history to explore, Hampton Court Palace has been divided into a series of historical routes which help to explain how the palace was used when it was occupied by the monarch:
Henry VIII's State Apartments
The Tudor Kitchens
The Wolsey Rooms
The King's Apartments of William III
The Queen's State Apartments
The Georgian Rooms
There are also two exhibitions: the 'Introductory Exhibition' about the history of the building, and the 'Gardens Exhibition' about the development of the gardens.
