Description
The De Morgan Centre is a registered charity and opened to the public in April 2002. It is located in the former Longstaff Reference Library in West Hill, Wandsworth. The building was built in 1887 to celebrate Queen Victoria's jubilee and boasts a spectacular wooden ceiling. The Museum has received considerable acclaim since it opened and is strongly supported by the local community. Entrance to the Centre is free of charge.
Collections description
The Centre holds an extensive collection of Arts and Crafts Ceramics by the Victorian ceramicist William De Morgan and Oil Paintings and drawings by the artist Evelyn De Morgan. The centre also holds archive material associated with the De Morgans and their circle and a lively programme of temporary exhibitions.
