Newark Millgate Museum is part of Newark and Sherwood Museum Service. In addition to the museum there is also the Gilstrap Heritage Centre to visit in the grounds of Newark Castle. The Gilstrap centre is open daily throughout the year and admission is free.

The Service also operates the Resource Centre - the off site store and study room. Appointments are essential at the Resource Centre. Behind the scenes guided tours are available - contact Newark Millgate Museum for further details.

Description
Housed in a charming former mill and warehouse by the River Trent, Newark Millgate Museum displays the working, social and domestic life of Newark, covering the 19th and 20th Centuries.

In addition there are works of art from the museum's permanent collection on show as well as temporary exhibitions showcasing the work of contemporary local artists and designers.

The museum is just 10 mintues walk from the town centre and Newark Castle.
Collections description
The Museum service has extensive collections of archaeology, costume, natural science, art, social history, archives, photographs and local studies.
