The Museum has just developed a partnership with Chesterfield Shopmobility and can now offer an electric scooter called 'Rundle' for visitors who otherwise would find it difficult to walk around the site.

The Creswell Crags site and entry to the museum building is free. A charge is made for site tours and some events. Parking £2 (Donation).
Description
Creswell Crags is a picturesque limestone gorge honeycombed with caves and smaller fissures. Stone tools and remains of animals excavated from the caves by archaeologists provide evidence for a fascinating story of life during the Ice Age between 60,000 and 10,000 years ago. The Museum and Education Centre at the eastern end of the gorge provides displays and interactive resources which bring this story to life.
Collections description
The collection comprises archaeological objects which have been excavated from the caves. These include Old Stone Age flint and quartzite artefacts plus large and small mammal bone collections from the cave excavations.
Key artists and exhibits
The display 'Age of Ice' provides an introduction to the Ice Age and explores the evidence from Creswell which helps us to build a picture of the environment more than 10,000 years ago. A mixture of real and replica artefacts are used, supported by interactive displays and an audio visual presentation.

John and Val Lord regularly run Ice Age skills workshops at the museum where visitors can test their own Ice Age skills by making stone tools and rope.
