Description
The Crypt is a 13th Century medieval undercroft which was used as a merchants store house. It is the oldest secular building in Seaford East Sussex. It was rediscovered 12 years ago and subsequently restored. Lewes District Council built a gallery around it and it is now open to the public as an historical building and gallery combined.

The contrast between ancient, textured flint walls and smooth, matt white plaster provides an unusual and stimulating environment to showcase work from traditional / contemporary art exhibitions, adult and children's literary / painting / creative workshops, photography, printmaking to ceramics, sculpture, textiles and crafts as well as having wonderful acoustics in the undercroft for madrigal recitals, carol singing, poetry and jazz - the list is endless.

The Crypt is dedicated to showing a mix of art media in a unique and surprising space and is available for hire.
