Description
Manchester Jewish Museum tells the story of the Jewish community in manchester over the last 200 years. Through photographs, objects, documents and room settings, visitors gain an insight into the lives of the individuals who came to the city in different waves of Jewish immigration. The Museum opened in 1984 in the former Spanish and Portuguese synagogue which was built in 1874.
Collections description
Artefacts, photographs, oral history tapes and archive material relating to the religious,working,educational and social life of the Jewish community in Manchester and Salford since the early nineteenth century.
