Living History
1.00pm and 2.30pm
On the first Sunday of each month an actor brings the past to life with a half hour dramatic performance. (Living History sessions are also available for schools and colleges to book - please phone for more details). Normal museum admission.
Welcome Tours

On the second and last Friday of every month a curator or member of our education staff will lead a free 30 minute introductory tour of our main galleries.

*The People's History Museum is closed for redevelopment* It will re-open after the multi-million pound project is completed in 2009.
Some of the most popular displays from the museum galleries, including reconstructions and interactives, will be on show in the 1830 Warehouse at the Museum of Science and Industry from 28 January 2008 to Easter 2009. During this time visitors will also be able to have their say in how the new museum should be designed.

Description
Located in Manchester city centre. The People's History Museum (formerly the National Museum of Labour History) celebrates the extraordinary story of ordinary people, looking at people's lives at work, at home and leisure over the last 200 years. The upstairs galleries host a varied programme of changing exhibitions. A full range of activities and events for families are always provided.

Collections description
The museum (registered as the National Museum of Labour History) is the national centre for the collection, conservation, interpretation and study of material relating to the history of working people in Britain.

Watch the first Match of the Day, visit the Co-op shop, play your favourite vinyl on the jukebox and try your hand at sweated labour.

Try out our interactive displays, developed with families in mind, recently introduced into the main galleries. Create your own badge, shop at a 1930s Co-op counter, perform your own Punch and Judy show, co-operate to build an arch, record your opinions, produce a fuzzy felt banner and much, much more......
