Description
Valence House Museum is a Medieval and later timber framed manor situated partially within its own grounds on the north-west corner of Valence Park. The building has been a museum since 1938 and the collection covers all aspects of the historic life and environment of the old Essex parishes of Barking and Dagenham.
The Archive Service and the Local Studies LIbrary for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham are based in the building.
Part of the Medieval moat still suvives in the adjacent park. A modern herb garden has been laid out to one side of the Museum. There is also a shop and a small cafe.
The gardens, ground floor and local studies library are all accesible by wheelchair users.
