Admission charges
Museum and Library:
Monday to Saturday: Adults £4.00, Senior Citizens & Students £3, Children under 16 - £1 for first child in group, remainder free (except for special activities and school groups where separate charges apply).
FREE admission to all visitors on Sundays.
WANHS members: Free
Members of Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum: Free
Free admission also to members of Museum Association, English Tourist Board and the National Art Collections Fund.

Description
The Wiltshire Heritage Museum, together with its associated Library and Gallery, is Designated as one of the top 62 museums in the UK, due to the excellence of its Bronze Age collections, arguably the finest to be seen outside London. Founded over 150 years ago, it has dedicated itself to preserving the rich archaeological and historical treasures and records of Wiltshire, including the World Heritage Site of Avebury and Stonehenge.

Collections description
The archaeology collections are Designated as of national significance and include material from Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, Saxon and Medieval periods. Social history collections concentrate on the more recent history of the town of Devizes. The museum also has natural history collections allowing visitors to explore the geology and wildlife of Wiltshire. The large art collection relates to the county with a small selection always on display.

Key artists and exhibits
Works by John Piper and David Inshaw are on permanent display. The Museum's collection also includes works by Graham and Ann Arnold, James Bridges, John Buckler, A V Copley Fielding, Philip Crocker, Sir Richard Colt Hoare, Sir Thomas Lawrence, Lord Methuen,

Henry Moore, Samuel Prout, Augustin Pugin and Robin Tanner. These may be viewed by prior arrangement. A selection of 185 paintings, drawings and prints from the collection have been published in Art in Wiltshire available from the Museum bookshop.
