Description
All Hallows by the Tower was founded in 675AD and a Saxon arch from the original church remains. Located next to the Tower of London, the church has dealt with numerous beheaded bodies, including those of Thomas More, John Fisher and Archbishop Laud. Samuel Pepys watched the Great Fire of London from the tower of the church. Wiliam Penn was baptised in the church and John Qunicy Adams was married here. The church was badly bombed in the blitz and 'Tubby' Clayton, Vicar at All Hallows and founder of Toc H, oversaw the rebuilding. All Hallows has an active education programme, offers historic guided tours and has a brass rubbing centre.
