Description
The National Archives holds all public records for the UK, England and Wales. To access records, visitors must sign up as a Reader. This is free and allows access to the Reading Rooms where you can see, and in most cases handle, original documents up to 1000 years old. Registering will take about five minutes. Bring some form of identification (passprt, driving licence or bank card) to The National Archives.

Public Records dating back approximately 1000 years. Also the Historical Manuscripts Commission holding details of private archival collections.
