Description
The Royal College of Art is the only exclusively postgraduate university dedicated to art and design in the world.
The College’s international reputation for excellence is unparalleled. It has produced some of the world’s leading artists and designers, from David Hockney and Chris Ofili to James Dyson and Zandra Rhodes. The art and designs of College alumni can be found throughout the globe: in galleries, museums, magazines, homes and hospitals; on catwalks, high streets, autobahns and freeways. No wonder then that the eminent Japanese fashion designer, Issey Miyake, referred to the College’s postgraduate students as “a nourishment to the world”.
The College environment is richly international – over a quarter of the 900 postgraduate students are from over 35 countries in six continents. An MA course or research programme at the Royal College of Art offers not only an opportunity to study with the most talented students from the UK, but also with the most talented students from around the world in a highly concentrated community.
RCA graduates achieve outstanding success. The most recent survey of graduate destinations revealed that 92% go on to find employment in areas relating to their MA course both in the UK and abroad. This is testament both to their talent and to the quality of the learning experience; project-based education; face to face teaching by internationally renowned artists and designers, and a wealth of opportunities to work with business, industry and a wide range of external organisations
The Show at the Royal College of Art is the culmination of our postgraduate students’ studio work and research: a series of individual exhibitions; a glimpse into the ideas factory of the College itself; an opportunity to open our doors to the public; a public testing of research ideas; and a calling card on behalf of all these talented exhibitors who are in the process of launching themselves into their various professional worlds.
The dates for the Show 2005 are:
The Show: Sculpture, 26 May to 5 June
The Show: One, 27 May to 5 June
The Show: Fashion, 8 June (Ticket only)
The Show: Two, 24 June to 3 July (closed 1 July)
Admission to all Shows except Fashion is free. For more information including opening times and venues visit the Royal College of Art website www.ac.uk
