Description
GoMA is the second most visited contemporary art gallery outside London, offering a thought-provoking programme of temporary exhibitions and workshops. The focus of the Gallery is on contemporary social issues, often featuring groups marginalized in today’s society. Opened in 1996, the Gallery of Modern Art is housed in an elegant, neo-classical building in the heart of Glasgow city centre. Refurbished to house the city’s contemporary art collection, the building is an appealing combination of old and new architecture, incorporating a number of artists’ commissions. The GoMA Library is a resource of books and information on art and artists. As well as holding a series of events, the library has a training suite both for hire and for general public use; 22 PCs for use by the public on a drop-in basis; a fax machine and photocopying facility; as well as a café selling food and refreshments.
