Description
The Adventures of the British soldier

Discover the lives, legends and legacies of the men and women who have served in the British Army. Find out about some of the most remarkable episodes in Britain’s history. We’ll show you just how soldiers have lived and fought from the Battle of Agincourt right up to the modern day.

Key artists and exhibits
At the National Army Museum the adventures of the British soldier are brought vividly to life! See portraits by Reynolds and Gainsborough, a lamp used by Florence Nightingale, the frost-bitten fingers of Everest conqueror Major ‘Bronco’ Lane – even the skeleton of Napoleon’s horse! ; Feel the weight of a Tudor cannonball, try on soldiers’ helmets, survey the opposing forces on an enormous model of the Battle of Waterloo, explore a recreated First World War trench and even test your ‘military skills’ in a series of exciting computer challenges.
