Description
Discover the story of the train at the world's largest Railway Museum. The National Railway Museum mixes fascination and education with hours of fun. With three enormous galleries, exhibitions, interactive exhibits, rides and special daily demonstrations, it’s all aboard for a FREE fun-packed day to remember for all the family!
Collections description
With true railway legends such as Shinkansen, the sleek 'Bullet Train' and 'Mallard' the fastest ever steam locomotive, plus a replica of Stephenson's Rocket, this is your chance to see the really big names in trains. And now they have been joined by perhaps the most famous of them all, the legendary Flying Scotsman.

The Flying Scotsman Story

When the Great Northern Railway launched its Flying Scotsman service in 1862 it would have had little idea that it was launching a legend. Over 140 years later Flying Scotsman is still racing between London and Edinburgh, whilst the locomotive named after this famous train has won the hearts fot he nation. Savour the atmosphere, meet the people and see the objects that make up the Flying Scotsman Story. Please note Flying Scotsman is currently undergoing a statutory overhaul in the Workshop.
