24 Hour Museum will be carrying an interview with Nick in the week after the conference in the 'For Museums' section of the 24 Hour Museum site. It would be ideal to get Nick's interview on 24 HM during conference week, but he's actually very busy now getting started in his post and ready for the conference.
The conference programme (see links below) has been carefully designed to enable delegates to gain the most from their attendance.
Wednesday sessions are for those who would benefit from an overall appreciation of the three key strands of the conference: Users, Practice, and Training. Key professionals from the sector will, by means of dialogue with one another and the audience, set out the current priorities in their area of expertise, and provide pointers to supporting information resources. If you would like to come away with the latest thinking, set within a stimulating format of conversation and frank exchange of views, then don't miss this day.
Thursday activities enable delegates to gain more insight into the issues raised on Wednesday, by means of a series of excellent thought-provoking presentations. Delegates are free to follow areas of interest throughout the sessions, or mix and match between the various concurrent strands. All conference delegates will be brought together at the end of the day in order to enjoy up-to-the-minute updates on the latest projects and initiatives which look to become tomorrow's news.
The purpose of the final day of the conference, Friday, is to enable delegates to learn more about the inter-relation of each of the programme themes. This will be done by means of stimulating presentations and lively panel discussions, which will involve conference delegates and invited guests. The climax of the conference will be an exploration of how to advocate and implement the learnings from the conference into our respective places of work. Friday then is for those who want to 'spread the word' about their practice so that they can effect change.
Whilst each day of the conference can be enjoyed as a discrete event, delegates will gain most by experiencing the progression of the programme over three days. In this way, conference delegates will benefit from the depth and breadth of all of the sessions, and will be able to have time to reflect and discuss with fellow delegates emerging concepts and applications.
Following the success of last year's conference 'breakfast get-togethers,' all residential delegates will have the opportunity to discuss current 'hot topics' before the start of the formal conference proceedings.
Also note that this is the one sector conference where exhibitors are an integral part of the programme, enabling suppliers to learn from the day-to-day experience of delegates as well as demonstrating their products and expertise.
