The tapestry, and the length of time it took to complete, has generated a lot of interest. Upon seeing the colourful array of panels it is easy to see why there has been such hype. Alongside the tapestry is a team of stitching professionals who give demonstrations on how they work. The skill that has gone into each and every embroidery quickly becomes apparent. If you get close you can see the minute details and extra touches such as beads and golden thread.
The woollen cloth backing is made from the wool of several rare sheep, and is in fact entirely natural, not dyed.
This exhibition will return to Kendle from April 3 to the December 1 2006. However, if you are in Norwich it adds another dimension to see the tapestry against the spectacular beauty of Norwich Cathedral, a sight in itself.
