LANTERN KITS FOR BURNING OF THE CLOCKS ON SALE AT LIBRARY AND MUSEUMS

The annual Burning of the Clocks parade, now a Brighton institution, is coming fast upon us. So get ready for the festivities on December 21, and make sure you and your family are in on the seafront finale by creating your own lantern – now made easy with lantern kits available at museum and library shops in Brighton and Hove.

It’s the first year the officially approved kits are going on sale. Put together by organisers Same Sky, the limited edition packs contain everything needed for making two safe, willow-framed lanterns. They also give details on joining the parade and act as tickets for accessing the VIP area during the blazing finale on Madeira Drive.

“This is a great idea from Same Sky,” said Camay Chapman-Cameron, Head of Trading for the City Council. “The usual lantern-making workshops are always over-subscribed, and it’s not possible to join the parade with lanterns that have not been approved for safety, which is disappointing for many children!”

“With these packs, families can be confident that they will be allowed to join the parade, and be sure that they have done so safely.”

Packs are available exclusively from The Royal Pavilion Shop, the Jubilee Library’s Booklover Store, Hove Museum & Art Gallery shop or the Visitor Information Centre in Bartholomew Square, Brighton. They cost £14 each and supplies are limited to parade capacity, so get in there before they run out. The parade begins at 6pm – find out more at www.burningtheclocks.co.uk.
