Visitors will be allowed onto Tower Beach to search for hidden treasure for two hours each day at low tide, from approximately 12-2pm on Saturday and 12.30-2.30pm on Sunday.
Experts will be on hand to help identify any finds; in the past beachcombers have found items like clay pipes, animal bones, Roman glass, a medieval knife and fragments of pottery.
There will also be a whole host of events running on the adjacent Tower Wharf over the weekend, including displays and reconstructions by the City of London Archaeological Society.
The event has been organised for National Archaeology Week by the Tower of London and environmental charity Thames 21.
