ROYAL ARMOURIES LEEDS HOSTS QUEEN'S JOUSTING TOURNAMENT

This Bank Holiday Weekend, August 25-27 2007, visitors to Leeds are invited to cheer on some of the world’s top jousters as they clash head-to-head for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Trophy.

The drama will build through four heats which will reach their climax on Bank Holiday Monday when the overall winner will claim the trophy and title of Individual Joust Champion.

The authentic 15th century re-enactment takes place every year at the museum, and as the prize is a trophy belonging to the Queen, it’s always hotly contested. After winning the individual joust, the champion has his coat-of-arms engraved on one of the shields suspended above the trophy.

There will be two heats per day on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Bank Holiday Monday will host The Playoffs at 12.30pm and the Grand Final at 2.30pm.

Advance booking is highly recommended - jousting is an extremely popular event art the Armouries. Though entry to the Royal Armouries site is free, jousting tournaments attract charges and ticket prices vary according to the day you intend to visit. Call the Ticket Booking Line on 0113 220 1985 for more details.
