 | The Discover London Trails are nominated for the Best Visitor Information Initiative |
Visit London, the official visitor organisation promoting the capital, has announced its shortlist for the Visit London Awards 2007, with the Campaign for Museums' Discover London Trails featuring in the nominations.
The Discover London Trails are hosted on the 24 Hour Museum's London City Heritage Guide. The popular downloadable trails have been created by the Campaign for Museums with support from the Mayor's Office and ALM London to cover different regions of the capital. They are finalists for the Best Visitor Information Initiative.
Also in the nomination list are the Horniman Museum, National Maritime Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum and the Southbank Centre, who go head to head with the London Eye and London Dungeon for the coveted Visitor Attraction of the Year Award, while Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum and Tour makes the shortlist for Best Tourism Experience.
Museum of London’s exhibition Belonging: Voices of London’s Refugees has also been selected for the shortlist of the Best Celebration of Cultural Diversity Award and Tate Modern and the National Portrait Gallery were both nominated for Marketing/PR Campaign of the Year. |

“The Visit London Awards go from strength to strength each year,” said James Bidwell, Visit London’s Chief Executive. “This is reflected in the record number of entries received this year, and the consistently high standard of the nominations.”
A panel of industry experts will judge the awards with nominees having to demonstrate high standards and show commitment towards sustainability, accessibility, training and development and investment in the local community.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on November 29 at IndigO2, a new concert venue in the O2 arena, formerly the Millennium Dome.
