The exhibition 'Space Age, Exploration, Design and Popular Culture', sponsored by the likes of NASA and Lego, is the first temporary show at the museum since its multi-million pound refurbishment completed in December 2006.
Margaret Hodge used the launch to outline an offer similar to the existing Government sports pledge that guarantees kids five hours of sport a week.
“We’re working to develop the offer we give children in creativity and culture, giving them the opportunity to explore the best of our culture,” said the Minister.
She also praised the Museum of Childhood for matching “excellence with access for children in the local community” and added that she used to take her children to the museum at least once a month when they were growing up.
The Space Age exhibition examines the impact space exploration has had on everyday life, and features futuristic design and the fantasy worlds created for children and adults alike.
