Directed by Danusia Iwaszko, 'Monument of Folly' has revealed a gifted cast of actors, production and technical assistants, all from County Upper School in Bury St Edmunds.
The students also contributed to the script of the film, researching what it was like to live both upstairs and downstairs at the mansion just before the Second World War. In the process, they discovered the true stories surrounding the real life individuals who lived and worked on the Ickworth estate, which in turn inspired the characters and locations in the film.
"Not only are the students willing and able, but there is a real talent emerging," said cameraman Daniel Lane, who helped with advice on sound, boom and grip.
Ickworth's Learning and Interpretation Officer, Lisa Owens, agreed with him. She was surprised at the number of students who volunteered to help with the project, and their enthusiasm for helping with her goal of interpreting the lives of the Hervey family and their staff.
The film is supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, and will be featured as a permanent installation in the re-opened below stairs area of the house.
"I have really enjoyed this experience and it has helped not just me but everyone learn so much about filming, local history and working in a team," said actress and student Katherine Engall.
"I think people will enjoy watching the film and what it represents," she added.
