The fun kicks off at Hereford Cider Museum on May 16 and 17 with a 4.30pm viewing of Nick Park’s Oscar-winning animation ‘The Wrong Trousers’.
Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum continues the festivities, showing the same film on May 16 with a guided tour by torchlight accompanying the film. The evening’s entertainment begins at 6pm and runs through until 11pm.
The same film will be shown at Warwickshire Museum on the same day before making its way to Ludlow Museum Resource Centre on May 17 with the evening’s festivities occurring between 6pm and 8pm.
The Wallace and Gromit theme is continued at Coventry Transport Museum on May 17 and 18 with three showings of the film as well as a Wallace and Gromit quiz. The event is free, however the museum will be accepting donations for ‘The Wrong Trousers Foundation’- a charity that supports children's hospices and children in hospitals.
There’s a last chance to catch the film and a selection of ‘Shaun the Sheep’ screenings for visitors at the New Art Gallery, Walsall on May 18 between 12pm and 2pm.
As well as Night at the Museum weekend, West Midland museums and galleries are hosting other events in Museums and Galleries month: check out the Free Art Talks at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum every Tuesday up until June 3 to coincide with their Tracing Britishness exhibition.
Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery are offering visitors the chance to see some rare Egyptian Mummies out of their cases as well as the chance to learn about the Egyptians and take part in activities on May 17, beginning at 4.30pm.
Museum and Galleries Month continues on May 28 and 29 at Lunt Roman Fort where staff are looking for help building a throwing machine and use Roman measuring devices.
Lastly, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists have organised a bus to take people to visit Birmingham’s galleries on May 28. Board the bus at 5pm from the RBSA, Ikon or the Barber and travel between the galleries enjoying each venue's exhibitions.
