Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery Collections Centre opens its doors to the public on Monday May 26 2008 with the usual historic artefacts surrounded by pictures taken by citizens of the West Midlands to celebrate ‘Big Picture Day’.

This year’s May open day will host a new display of photographs taken by people across the West Midlands. There’s a chance to view the West Midlands attempt at the worlds largest photo mosaic at www.inthebigpicture.co.uk.

Amongst those images will be those by the eight lucky photographers who will see their work made into billboard posters viewable across the West Midlands this June.

As well as the chance to look at the photographs, the day will feature the usual antiques and treasures locked way in the vast storerooms of BMAG. Rare collections and every imaginable artefact will fill the museums halls from wall to wall and ceiling to ceiling for one day only this Monday.

Go to www.inthebigpicture.co.uk to find out about events at West Midlands' museums and art galleries and to upload your photographs and share your stories.
