Their Past Your Future (TPYF) and the Imperial War Museum are looking for 24 young people from across the UK to travel to the First World War battlefields in France and Belgium from November 7–12, 2008 as part of their Away To Remember competition.
November 2008 will be a special time of remembrance for those who lost family members in the 1914-1918 war. It’ll be the 90th anniversary of the Armistice, the day the First World War ended in November 1918.
To win a free place on this once-in-a-lifetime experience the Imperial War Museum are holding a competition. They want young people between the ages of 14 and 16 to answer two questions:
What impact did the First World War have on your community?
What do you think about remembrance today and in the future?
Further details about how to enter the competition follow at the end of this story. The deadline for entries is September 9 2008.
Experienced staff from the Imperial War Museum will lead the trip – but before then, winners will have a chance to spend a weekend in London in October to prepare for the visit.
All the costs of the trip, including travel, accommodation, food and fees will be paid for by the Their Past Your Future project, which is Lottery funded.
Keeping up with the progress of the trip will be easy for friends and family of those chosen to take part - daily updates will pop up on the Radiowaves website - www.radiowaves.co.uk/tpyf
