The stencil artist was taken from a detention centre at Heathrow and flown back to the US last Friday (August 30 2008) after being denied access because he didn’t have a work permit.
Ink_D, a Brighton based independently run art gallery, has been left without one of its star guests at a new show as a result of the confusion.
The artist’s work is featured in an exhibition called Stencil History X and is shown alongside French and British artists in a celebration of the diverse art form of stencil art.
Dan Hipkin, studio director at Ink_D said: “We are shocked at Broken Crow’s deportation and were looking forward to seeing him in the gallery. It’s hard to believe and I hope we can work together to get him back as soon as possible.”
Broken Crow’s work focuses on big murals, giant stencils in bright colour and draws inspiration from comic books, mythology and the vast world between stained glass windows and graffiti.
