MGM 2008 - Send Us Your Museum Of Me

Image

We are publishing around 20 Museum of Me entries from public figures in the arts and politics - and we'd really like to add another 20 from members of the public. If you'd like to see your Museum of Me online on the 24 Hour Museum, read every month by one million people worldwide, then please have a go with Storymaker, our online authoring tool.

Note - we can't promise to put up every Museum of Me sent to us - but we'll be looking out for interesting, quirky, passionate and creative answers to add to Museum of Me.

Storymaker is an easy-to-use online web writing tool that lets you see what you're writing as you write it.

Another neat facility is that writers can upload pictures too, to go with text. With a few clicks it's possible to build up a tidy looking page with your pictures and words arranged in paragraphs and with the images alternated from side to side.

What sort of things can you put in your museum? They might be old or precious objects that you own, that tell a story about your life or your family. They might be things you think are great inventions; or people you find inspiring. Be creative and imaginative - maybe you'd like to put a time or era from history in a Museum of Me.

When you're happy with the story you've written, click the buttons on the bottom right of the screen to save your story.

Then there's a few simple screens to fill in telling us some brief details about yourself - these bits are entirely optional.

At the end of the process, just click the button to send your story to the 24 Hour Museum, and it'll be looked at by the 24HM team.

OK - click here to start the Storymaker tool - good luck!

More information about sending your Museum of Me submission to 24 Hour Museum:

1. You must own the copyright for any pictures sent to us - it sounds complicated, but really it's simple. If you took the pictures you sent us yourself, then they are your copyright. If so, add a note to the story saying this. If you didn't take the pics yourself, or got them off the internet, please let us know where you got the pictures.

2. 24 Hour Museum reserves the right to publish only the entries we deem to be editorially suitable for inclusion on the 24HM website.

3. If your Museum of Me entry is published, we will contact you - but you must add some contact details to your entry if you wish to be contacted.

4. Copyright of your text and images will be properly credited to you if you add your name and contact details to the text.

5. Unused content and copy will be deleted from our system within one month of it's entry by a site user.

6. Copy and pictures entered using Storymaker are not automatically published on 24HM - they are manually transcribed into our publishing system. We reserve the right to edit your copy for length.
